| Edward (EJC) Van Hootegem (later Lieutenant-General) Edward Van Hootegem was the senior Dutch officer in Hungary. He oversaw the Dutch side of the British-Dutch Underground and also provided valuable intelligence to the British before returning to the Netherlands in 1945 (following 6 weeks of captivity by the Russians, during which time he did not admit to the Russian interrogators that he had worked for the British Secret Intelligence Service in Hungary).
